Paruppu podi is prepared by roasting and grinding the dals to a fine mixture.Very simplest recipe to make and can be stored for future use.We can use this paruppu podi with steamed rice and ghee or sesame oil.Follow these simple picture and make your paruppu podi at home.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup bengal gram
1/2 cup toor dhal
8-10 dried red chillies
1 tsp cumin seeds
A sprig of curry leaves
1 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp asafoetida
5-8 cloves garlic
Salt to taste
METHOD
Heat a tawa or a pan,add cumin,pepper and roast for a min in simmer,add garlic and roast for 2 mins in simmer then add chilies,curry leaves and roast until they become crisp and keep it aside.
Heat another tawa add toor dal and roast till they turn mild orange color this would take some time(10 -15 mins),add the bengal gram and roast for 2 -3 mins
Mix them together,cool the mixture,add asafoetida,salt and grind in a mixer.Cool them again and store in an airtight container.Paruppu podi is ready to serve.
