RADISH CHUTNEY (OR) MULANGHI CHUTNEY

Radish is mostly used to make curry and sambar.Try this Radish chutney if u want to make something different .This chutney is sweet and spicy to taste.Let me make this with simple steps following pictures.

INGREDIENTS

2 radishes (chopped)

1 onion (chopped)

5 garlic cloves

2 inch ginger

6 – 8 dried red chillies

1/4  gooseberry sized tamarind

1/2 tsp fennel seeds

2 tsp jaggery

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp oil

Salt   to taste

TO TEMPER

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp urad dhal

METHOD

Heat  1/2 tbsp oil in a pan add saunf,ginger,garlic,dried red chilies and saute for a min, add onions saute for a min,then add radish and saute for 3 -5 mins or till the smell of the radish goes off.

Remove from flame,cool the mixture add turmeric powder,tamarind,jaggery,salt and grind it in a mixer.

Transfer this mixture to a kadai again with 2 tsp oil and let it be in simmer till the chutney becomes thick and completely cooked.

Heat oil in a separate small pan or kadai ,add mustard seeds and urad dal when they splutter add it to the chutney.
Radish Chutney is ready to serve with Idly,Dosai and Chapathi.
