Tomato Chutney is a spicy and tangy chutney that goes well with idly,dosai,chapathi and can also be used as bread spread .A very easy and quick chutney for the breakfast.Lets make this chutney with simple steps following pictures.
INGREDIENTS
4 tomatoes chopped
1 onion chopped
1 inch ginger
4 -6 garlic cloves
6 red chillies
1/2 tsp fenenl seeds
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
FOR TEMPERING
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp urad dhal
1 tsp oil
METHOD
Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan add saunf,ginger, garlic,red chilies and saute for a min in simmer flame.Add onions and saute till they become transparent.
Add the tomatoes and saute till they get cooked.Remove from flame ,cool the mixture and grind it in a mixer with turmeric powder and salt.
Now for the tempering ,heat oil add mustard seeds and urad dal when they splutter remove and mix with the chutney.Tomato Chutney is ready to serve.
This looks delicious and not overly difficult – it’s on my must try list 😉
