Rava Dosa is a popular South Indian Dosa variety. Many like Rava Dosa especially for their crispiness .Rava Dosa is easy to make does not need any fermentation thus helps us when we run out of ordinary dosa batter.Let s make this crispy dosa following these simple steps with pictures
INGREDIENTS
1 cup rava
1/2 rice flour
1 onion chopped
3 green chillies chopped
1 sprig of curry leaves
A fistful of coriander leaves
3-3 & 1/2 cups of water
Salt to taste
FOR TEMPERING
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 inch ginger (grated or chopped)
6-10 cashews
1 tbsp oil
METHOD
Mix rava, rice flour, salt in water and keep it aside for 10 mins. Then add onions, curry leaves ,coriander leaves to the rava batter.
Heat oil ,add mustard seeds, urad dal ,cumin seeds when they splutter add green chillies, ginger and cashews.
Add this to the rava dosa batter and mix them well.
Heat the dosa tawa ,pour the batter starting from the edges of the tawa proceeding towards the center of the tawa in circular motion.
Drizzle a tsp of oil around and over the dosa when it turns brown flip to the other side and let it get cooked evenly.
Serve Rava Dosa hot with your favourite Chutney or Sambar .
NOTES Mix the batter well before making every dosa to avoid them from getting settled at the bottom.
Rava Dosa should have that lacy or netted look ,so to get that the batter should have a watery consistency (like sambar).
No need to add maida if u really want to then just add 1 -2 tbsp. When we avoid maida we get nice, crispy Rava Dosas.
This is a favorite of mine. Love the addition of cashews too!
