Chana masala or Chole masala is a pure punjabi recipe made with either black or white chana known as garbanzo beans in english and kondaikadalai in tamil.Chole masala goes well with poori and chapathi.
1 small cup black chana
1 tomato chopped
1 onion chopped
2 green chillies slit
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp chana masala powder
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
Oil as required
Coriander leaves for garnishing
2 inch long ginger
4 pods of garlic
Soak chana overnight in water.
Pressure the soaked chana until cooked
Heat oil in pan,add the green chillies and the onions and saute till the onions turn transparent.
Add the tomato and cook till they become mushy.
Now add the grinded mixture under ‘to grind’ table and cook for 5 mins in simmer flame.
Then add the cooked chana,2-3 cups of water,turmeric powder,chilli powder,chana powder and salt and bring to boil.
When it starts to boil simmer the flame to low and cook for 10-15 mins or until the gravy thickens and the oil separates.Switch off the stove add the lemon juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
