1 cup chana dal(soaked for an hour)
1 tbsp raw rice(soaked for an hour)
2 tsp fennel seeds
1 inch piece of ginger
1 small cinnamon stick(optional)
Salt to taste
3 green chillies
1 sprig of curry leaves
Soak the channa dal with raw rice in water for an hour ,drain the water and grind it along with the items under the table ‘to grind’ without water.Mix the items under ‘to chop’ table with the grinded mixture and mix them well.
Make small balls,press them gently in the middle between your palms to flatten them slightly.
Heat oil in a kadai,when heated add the vadai and fry until they turn golden brown.
Drain the excess oil using a kitchen paper.
Serve the Masala vadai hot with a cup of tea.
