Prawns are the most easiest Non-veg dishes that could be made very quickly at home. They dont take much time to get cooked too.So they could be made for huge batches. This recipe calls for very basic ingredients available at home and are delicious too.
I make this prawn fry when I feel so bored to cook or when I m cooking in a hurry.I have used some ingredients ground to paste to bring the authentic taste of my native place Virudhunagar. This Prawn fry goes well with pulaos and steamed rice.
PREPARATION TIME : 15 MINS
COOKING TIME : 15 MINS
SERVES : 6
INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup prawns
8 red chillies
A 2 inch piece of ginger
6 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
2 tbsp oil Few curry leaves(optional)
Water as required
Salt to taste
METHOD
Wash and clean the prawns well in water.Make a paste of red chillies with water and also grind the ginger and garlic together to make ginger garlic paste.
Heat oil in a pan and add the fennel seeds. Then add the cleaned prawns and saute for 3 mins on medium flame. Now add the red chilly paste.
Now add the ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder,salt,2 tbsp water and cook for 8-10 mins or until the prawns are cooked well and oil separates.
Switch off the flame and add the curry leaves (optional).
Serve the Prawn fry with your favorite Pulaos or just steamed rice .
TAKE CARE TIPS
You can use red chilly powder instead of red chilly paste.
Red chilly paste gives such nice red color to the fry .
Mmmmmm scrumptious! So tasty and love the look of the prawns.I love a dry curry.Goes on so well with some white basmati rice!
