After I started to blog,I get lot of requests from my friends and relatives to help them in preparing Podi & Pickles.This recipe was made under a humble request from a friend who wants to stock it for the Ramzan fasting. I have tasted these Non-veg pickles may times but haven’t tried them even once.
I then decided to get this recipe from my Mallu friend,who then mailed me the very next day with many versions of Non veg pickles made from chicken,fish and prawns.Being a beginner I selected a simple easy version and succeeded making them.
Making this Prawn pickle is super easy except the cleaning of prawns which is time consuming.Every Seafood lovers must try this pickle at home,they go well with idly,dosa,rice and breads too.
PREPARATION TIME : 40 MINS
MAKING TIME : 30 MINS
1 cup prawns
10-12 dried red chillies
8 cloves garlic
2 inch of ginger
3 tsp vinegar
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp mustard seeds
4 tbsp sesame oil
Salt to taste
Make a paste of red chillies separately and ginger,garlic separately to get ginger garlic paste.
Marinate the prawns with salt and turmeric powder for an hour.Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the marinated prawns.
In the same oil add the mustard seeds when it splutters add the ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 mins on low flame.Then add the red chilly paste and saute for 2 more mins on low flame.
Add the salt and saute for 8-10 mins until the raw smell of the paste disappears.The oil now separates.
Add the deep fried prawns and give a good stir.Let it cook for 2 mins on low flame.
Finally add vinegar and mix well.Let it set for 30 min and come down to room temperature.
Then store them in sterile airtight containers.
