Paneer Makhanwala is another famous North Indian side dish that goes well with Rotis and Pulaos .Such a flavorful sidedish made by cooking Paneer in creamy rich sauce of tomato,onion and some cashews.
Paneer Makhani,Paneer butter masala and Paneer Makhanwala are very similar with the ingredients and preparation but their taste differs.Paneer side dishes can also be served with rice varieties ,they go well with Veg briyanis too.

PREPARATION TIME : 10 MINS

COOKING TIME : 25-30 MINS

SERVES : 4

INGREDIENTS

TO BOIL AND GRIND

1 onion ( cubed )

1 tomato (cubed )

8 cashews

1 inch ginger

3 cloves of garlic

1/2 tsp fennel seeds

2 cloves

1 small stick cinnamon

1 & 1/2 cup water

TO TEMPER

1-2 tbsp butter

2 green chilly slit

1 bay leaf

1/4 fennel seeds

2 cardamom

OTHER INGREDIENTS

200 g Homemade paneer

2 tbsp milk

2 tsp cream (optional)

1/2 tsp kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves)

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp chilli powder

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

Salt to taste

Water as required

METHOD

Add the items under to boil and grind in a pan with 1 & 1/2 cup water.Let it boil for 10 mins on low flame.

Switch off the flame and grind to a paste when it comes to room temperature.
In another pan add butter and when it is heated add the items under to temper column.

Now add the ground mixture,turmeric powder,chilly powder,garam masala powder and salt.Bring to boil and cook for 10-15 mins or until the gravy thickens.

Once it thickens add 3/4 water,2 tbsp milk and cook for 5 more mins.

Then add paneer pieces and cook for 2 mins.

Finally add kasoori methi,cream and mix gently.Switch off the flame.

Serve this delicious creamy paneer side dish with rotis or pulaos.

TAKE CARE TIPS

You can also fry the paneer and then add to the gravy.
