Murukku Sandwich is a new sandwich variety getting famous all over Chennai especially in Sowcarpet.Sowcarpet is a small business area in Chennai and well known for the chaat items and Jain foods.
Murukku sandwich is same as bread sandwich where murukku is replaced for bread slices.Veggies are cut into small pieces and enclosed between murukkus with some green chutney.Truly an easy sandwich for a brunch or evening snack for kids back from school.
PREPARATION TIME : 10 MINS
SERVES : 1-2
INGREDIENTS
20 small store bought murukkus
1/2 tomato(sliced)
1/2 onion(sliced)
1/4 cucumber(sliced)
2 cheese cubes (shredded)
2 tbsp green chutney or sandwich chutney
METHOD
Take the murukku and spread the sandwich chutney on one side of murukkus.
Place an onion and cucumber over the green chutney.
Followed by tomato and then finally close it with another murukku.
Top the murukku sandwich with some shredded cheese.Serve the spicy,crunchy Murukku sandwich for evening snack.
interesting is a murukku made out of besan (chickpea) flour – it looks like it is, I can guarantee you I won’t find a murukku store bought anywhere near me, but they do look very pretty!

Murukku is a traditional South Indian snack made from rice flour,chick pea flour…You can try this sandwich with bread instead of murukkus…

Oknope I see its made from:Murukku is typically made from rice and urad dal flour. The flours are mixed with water, salt, asafoetida and either sesame seeds or cumin seeds. The mix is kneaded into a dough, which is shaped into spiral or coil shapes either by hand or using a mould. The spirals are then deep fried in vegetable oil.
