1 cup HOMEMADE IDIYAPPAM FLOUR
1 cup jaggery
1 cup water
1/4 cup grated coconut
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
Grate the coconut and chop the jaggery to small pieces.
In a pan add jaggery with 1 cup of water and bring it to boil .When it boils simmer to low flame and cook for 5 mins.Strain them through a metal strainer.
In a large mixing bowl add rice flour,grated coconut,cardamom powder and mix well.Now add the filtered jaggery syrup little by little(you may not need the entire jaggery syrup sometimes)
Mix well to form a soft,smooth dough.Make equal sized balls out of the dough.Press each portion separately between your palm to make Pidi kozhukatais.
Steam for 12-15 mins or until cooked well inside.
Healthy Vellam pidi kozhukatais are ready now.

Use homemade flour for better result.
Store bought flour has corn flour in it which makes the kozhukatai rubbery.
The jaggery syrup must be hot while adding to the flour which helps to get soft kozhukatais.
