As I have been making lot of sweets for Diwali ,I have used almost 2 liters of ghee so far.Still running out of ghee and sugar everyday.So thought of making a post on Homemade ghee from butter.I never buy ghee from the stores for they are very expensive and doesn’t smell that good too.
Homemade ghee when made with drumstick leaves is so flavourful and the sweets made from homemade ghee tastes so divine.Also you get more quantity for the same money you give it to the store bought ones.Do try this ghee with the step wise pictures and make delicious sweets for Diwali and for other special occasions at home.
PREPARATION TIME : 15 MINS
500 G BUTTER
HANDFUL OF DRUMSTICK LEAVES OR CURRY LEAVES
Heat the butter in a thick bottomed pan in medium flame.Keep stirring and the butter will start to melt.They will start to bubble and become frothy.
The butter now slowly changes from yellowish colour to oil like substance.Now switch off the flame and add the drumstick leaves immediately.Keep stirring continuously to avoid the ghee from overflowing.
Strain it through a metal strainer,discard the residue and store in an airtight container after it comes to room temperature.
Homemade Ghee is ready to use now.
