Making Bread upma is the best way to use the left over bread slices.One could make delicious breakfast with these bread slices.I hardly make Upma varieties for my family doesn’t like it at all but this Bread upma is an exceptional one.They taste more like Veg kothu chapathi or parota and you can serve them with onion raitha.Very easy,tangy and spicy upma that could be made in no time even for a large group or for sudden guests.But make sure your guest don’t comment that you served them with just Upma ;-).You can make them as an evening snack for kids back from school and serve it with their favorite drink.
PREPARATION TIME : 5 MINS
COOKING TIME : 10 MINS
SERVES :2
INGREDIENTS
6-7 bread slices
1 onion (chopped)
1 tomato (chopped)
1/2 green chilly (chopped)
1/2 tsp grated ginger
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp chilly powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp urad dal
2 tbsp coriander (chopped)
Salt to taste
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seeds and urad dal,let it splutter.Then add grated ginger and green chillies,saute for a min.
Add onions and saute for 3 mins.Then add the tomatoes ,1/2 tsp of salt and saute for 4 mins in medium flame.
Now add the turmeric powder,chilly powder,garam masala powder and mix well.
Cut the bread slices into 4 or 6 piece and add it to the sauteed onion and tomatoes.
Mix well and add the coriander leaves.
Serve the delicious upma hot.
