Javarisi,Semiya payasam is prepared using both Javarisi (tapioca pearls) and Semiya (vermicelli). Another sweet treat from my native place Virudhunagar that is served in most of the weddings. In this recipe both javarisi and semiya are cooked in water instead of milk and milk is finally added before serving.
Like Kesari ,this is another easy sweet recipe that you can make in a jiffy even for a large group of people. Do make this simple sweet at home for your loved ones and have a sweet day.
PREPARATION TIME : 5 MINS
COOKING TIME : 25 -30 MINS
SERVES : 2
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup Javarisi / tapioca pearls / sago
1/2 cup Semiya / vermicelli (heaped)
3/4 cup sugar
2 & 1/2 cup water
3 tbsp milk
2 tbsp ghee
2 cardamoms
6-8 cashews (broken)
6 raisins
METHOD
Heat ghee in a small pan, roast the nuts and raisins.Keep this aside.
Bring water to boil, add the tapioca pearls and cook in low flame for 15-20 mins or until cooked well.
When the tapioca pearls are cooked ,add vermicelli and cook for 3 mins or until cooked well in low flame.Add sugar now.Cook in low flame for 2 minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Switch off the flame now.Add the roasted nuts and 3 tbsp milk.Mix them well.
Javarisi,Semiya payasam is ready now.
TAKE CARE TIPS
The tapioca pearls take time to get cooked you can also soak them in water for 15 mins to minmise the cooking time.
Add sugar only after the vermicelli and tapioca pearls are cooked well.
You can also use any essence of your choice instead of cardamoms.
Awesome…
