These plantain chips are super easy to make at home with very few ingredients.Just peel ,slice and deep fry them in oil ,add your favorite seasonings and enjoy these crispy and delicious chips. The thinner the chip, the crunchier it’ll be!
Don’t ever feel bad to indulge in these crispy deep fried delicious snack once in a while.These plantain chips are a great side dish for variety rice.You can make them in large batches and store in an airtight container for 2-3 weeks.Be sure not to slice them too thin, or they will burn, and not too thick or they won’t crisp up!
PREPARATION TIME : 5 MINS
COOKING TIME : 25-30 MINS
INGREDIENTS
2 raw plantains (green colour)
Red chili powder as required
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
METHOD
To peel plantain, cut off the ends. Then using a peeler, slice the peel lengthwise from top to bottom, just enough to cut through the peel.Then use a slicer to slice the plantain.
Heat oil in a kadai,slice the plantain directly into the oil in low flame .Be careful when doing this,else you can slice them in a plate then drop them into the oil one by one.Deep fry them on both sides until the oil stops the oozing sound.
Remove them to a kitchen paper to absorb the excess oil.
Add salt,red chilli powder and toss them well.
Serve these Homemade Vaalakai chips as a snack or sidedish.
