Pasiparuppu Payasam / Moong dal Payasam

moong dal payasam

It’s hard to believe I started this blog as a passion two years ago today! To celebrate any special day I prefer making Indian sweets. To make it even more special I would like to share a Tamilian traditional recipe Pasiparupu Payasam made using moong dal / split green gram dal and jaggery to make it healthy and delicious.Moong dal is the tastiest among all the dals used in Indian cooking. It has a nice flavour that enhances the taste of the dish.
Variety of dishes can be prepared using Moong dal like tadka, makhani, salads, soups and many more. Many Nivedhyam recipes like Chakkarai pongal,Kalakandu rice, laddu ,payasam and sundal are also made using moong dal for special poojas at home.
To make this payasam you need not take any jaggery syrup ,just add the jaggery directly to the cooked dal.The addition of grated coconut and the ghee roasted nuts, caradamom, raisins makes the payasam rich and perfect for any celebration.
