What is food business license ?

A Food Business Operator License is a license granted by the FSSAI is a license granted by the FSSAI that the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 has made it mandatory for the entities involved in activities related to

Penalty and Offences under FSSAI regulations.

PURPOSE & AMOUNT

Not having FSSAI license – Imprisonment for a period of 6 months also with a fine which may extend to 5 lakhs.

Food quality issues -Penalty upto Rs 5 lakhs if food sold does not match required quality standard.

Substandard food -Penalty upto 5 lakhs.

In case of death-Penalty not less than Rs 5 lakhs .

In case of serious injuries-Penalty upto 3 lakhs.

Validity and renewal:

The validity of a Food License prolongs from 1 to 5 years and depends upon the number of years that is chosen by the food operator. According to FSSAI guidelines, every single person with FSSAI license have to apply for renewal at least 30 days prior to the expiration of validity of existing license and in case the License is renewed after the expiry time then a penalty would be imposed. Therefore, it is advisable to renew the Food License on time in order to avoid penalties.
