Simple Kaadai Fry / Ullan Fry / Quail Fry

Kaadai/ Ullan is a small bird and weighs just 150 g with not much flesh like chicken but tastes so much like chicken.Any chicken recipes can be tried with Kaadai (Quail)as it goes well with all masalas we use for cooking chicken.There is no need to pressure cook them ,they get cooked very quickly in a pan.
A very easy recipe to make with no onions,tomatoes,ginger garlic paste or ground masalas.The taste and flavour are enhanced with just cumin powder and coriander powder with final addition of pepper and curry leaves.Even bachelors and newbie cooks can give this a try.This Kaadai fry goes well with rasam rice or just plain curd rice.Do try this simple Kaadai fry at home for your loved ones.

PREPARATION TIME : 5 MINS

COOKING TIME : 20 MINS

SERVES : 2

INGREDIENTS

4 Kaadai / Quail

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1-2 tsp chilli powder

1/2 cumin powder

1 tsp coriander powder

3 tbsp oil

1/2 tsp pepper

Few curry leaves

Salt to taste

METHOD

Wash and clean the kaadai well in water.Heat oil in a pan ,add the quail and saute for 2 mins in medium flame.

Then add the turmeric powder,chilli powder,cumin powder,coriander powder and saute for 2 more mins.

Add half cup water ,close it with a lid and cook for 20 mins or until the kaadai is well cooked.Finally add curry leaves, pepper and switch off the flame.

Kaadai fry is ready to serve now.
