Homemade Rose Syrup

Rose milk syrup is thickened sugar syrup with a scent of rose essence and pink food colour,this can be stored for 2-3 months and consumed when needed.Chennai’s temperature is at it’s peak already even before the onset of Agni Nakshathram.So its better to prepare homemade drinks and stock them instead of relying on store bought ones.
I always wanted to try this rose syrup at home for the store bought ones are very concentrated with sugar and color.Having a cool Rosemilk on a hot day cools your body and also satisfies your sugar craving.This one goes down great in parties as well.Do make this easy summer drink at home for your kids.

PREPARATION TIME : 5 MINS

MAKING TIME : 15 MINS

MAKES : 2 CUPS

INGREDIENTS

2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups water

1/2 tsp rose food color

1/2 tsp rose essence

Milk as required

METHOD

Boil sugar and water in a thick bottomed vessel.When it starts to boil simmer the flame and cook for 5 mins.

Switch off the flame ,add food colour and rose essence and mix gently.

Let it cool and store in airtight container.To prepare rose milk ,add 2-3 tbsp rose syrup,ice cubes,200 ml milk and mix well and serve immediately.
