Green chutney is made by using mint leaves,coriander leaves and curry leaves.These leaves have multiple health benefits and a wonderful source of dietary fiber.A very simple,quick and healthy chutney to make at home.A bright green colored chutney that goes well with Idly and Dosai.
2 cups mint leaves(chopped)
2 cups coriander leaves(chopped)
1/2 cup curry leaves(chopped)
1 inch long ginger
4 cloves garlic
1-2 tsp grated coconut(optional)
A pea sized tamarind
1 tbsp sesame oil
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dhal
Heat oil in a large kadai,add ginger,garlic,green chilies and saute for 2 mins in simmer flame.
Add mint leaves,coriander leaves,curry leaves,coconut,tamarind and saute for 5 -8 mins in simmer flame.
Remove from flame,cool the mixture and grind it in a mixer with salt.
For seasoning,heat oil add the mustard and urad dhall when they splutter remove from flame and mix with the green chutney.
Serve the green chutney with idly,dosai or chappathi and can also be used as a sandwich spread.
