Tomato Soup / Thakkali Soup

Rich and creamy classic tomato soup recipe with amazing flavour is all you need during rainy days.🥣This is so easy,delicious and only requires basic pantry ingredient.There are two ways in making tomato soup,one is blanching the tomatoes and then make puree and the other is by sauteing the tomatoes and then pureeing them.Canned tomatoes also works well for this recipe🍅.You can also add some basil if you have,this soup is diet friendly and it will absolutely satisfy your craving for warm and creamy soup.Make this soup for your loved ones at home and have great day..😊





4 medium sized tomatoes

1 onion

1/2 carrot(optional,just for color)

1 small piece of beetroot(optional,just for color)

2 cloves of garlic

1 bay leaf

1 tsp italian herbs

1/2 tsp pepper

1 tsp sugar

2 tsp corn flour

1 tbsp butter

Salt to taste

Water as required


Heat butter in a dutch oven or soup pot,add garlic ,bay leaf and daute fir a minute on low flame.

Then add carrot,beetroot,onions and saute for a minute on low flame.

Add the chopped tomatoes and saute for 2 mins on low flame.

Add 1/4 cup water and cook for 5 mins on low flame with a closed lid.

Switch off the flame and let it cool.Discard the bay leaf, transfer to a mixie and grind it to smooth paste.

Strain the mixture.

Mix 2 tsp of corn flour in 2 tbsp of water and keep it aside.

Add the strained tomato puree back into the dutch oven and bring it to boil.When it starts to boil, reduce the flame to low .
Add pepper,italian herbs,salt ,sugar and the corn flour mixture.

Let it cook for 5 mins on low flame.Serve them warm with croutons.

Rich and creamy soup ready to serve.
