Sura Puttu / Shark Fish Puttu

Shredded Sura meen (Shark fish) stir fry with garlic,onions, curry leaves and coriander leaves enhances the flavour and taste that makes it perfect as a side dish for lunch.It is very popular dish in Tamil nadu and Kerala.Sura meen is a flaky fish and absorbs the masalas quickly ,you can also try this puttu recipe with vangeeram,naaku meen,vavaal and prawns.Kids would love to have this boneless shark stir fry ,for it has a distinct flavour and also not that very spicy too.Do try this fish puttu at home and serve it with just rice and rasam.

SERVES : 3

INGREDIENTS

250g Sura meen / Shark fish

1 onion (chopped)

2 green chiilies

4 cloves garlic(chopped)

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves

1 tsp turmeric powder

1/4 cup water

2 tbsp sesame oil

Salt to taste

Few curry leaves

METHOD

Clean and wash the fishes pieces in water.In a wide bottomed pan,add the fish pieces,salt ,turmeric powder, water and cook for 3 mins on medium flame.

Strain them and shred the fish pieces using a fork.

In a pan add oil, onions,green chillies, garlic,curry leaves and saute for 3 mins on low flame.

Add cumin powder to the shredded fish and mix well.

Add this shredded fish to the sauteed items and add the chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Serve Sura Puttu with rice and rasam.

  1. Puttu is my fav food. Here at home i get rice puttu. I have never even heard of shark fish puttu before. Start an online swiggy/zomato so that I can order one… 😄 The picture itself is enough to make hungry
