Methi theplas are chapathi like breakfast recipe made from fenugreek leaves,whole wheat flour with some few spices.It is a healthy and most common breakfast from Gujarat that can also be served as snacks for kids.Adjust the spice level as per your need.The flavor from garlic and chopped fenugreek leaves enhances the taste of the thepla.
Methi theplas are perfect to carry for lunch boxes,snack boxes and during travelling time.This would be the best and easiest way to incorporate fenugreek leaves in our children’s diet .They taste great with raitha and pickles but I usually serve them mayonnaise,butter or just plain curd with some veg salad.Do make this healthy recipe for loved ones at home 🙂

1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup fenugreek leaves/vendhayam keerai (measure before chopping)
1/2 green chilli
1-2 clove garlic
3/4 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp <strong>ghee or oil
A pinch of asafoetida / hing
Salt to taste
Oil as required
Wash the fenugreek leaves before chopping.
Chop garlic ,green chilli and fenugreek leaves.
Take a cup of whole wheat flour,add turmeric powder,garam masala powder,salt,hing and mix well.
Then add the chopped mixture,ghee,water and make a soft dough.Let it rest for 15 mins.
Make small balls out of the dough.
Heat a tawa , roll out the dough to flat chapathies and cook them on both sides in low flame with 1/2 tsp oil .
Serve them hot with your favorite side dish recipe.

You can also saute the leaves for 2-3 mins in low flame before adding it to the flour.
