Tomato Dosa/Thakkali Dosai

Use red ripe tomatoes,these bright red colored Tomato dosais goes well with any chutney variety and can be served for breakfast or dinnner.

PREPARATION TIME : 10 MINS

SOAKING TIME : 1 HOUR

COOKING TIME : 30 MINS

YIELDS : 7-9

INGREDIENTS

1 cup parboiled rice

2 big sized tomatoes

3 dried red chillies

6 cloves of garlic

1 tsp cumin seeds

An inch of ginger

A pinch of hing

Salt to taste

Water as required

Oil as required

TO TEMPER

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp urad dhal

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

METHOD

Soak the rice in water for an hour.Drain the water and keep it aside.

Add all the ingredients along with salt and hing.Add water as per your requirement.The batter should be little watery in consistency when compared to ordinary dosa batter.

to grind

Heat oil in a pan ,add the items under ‘to temper column‘and let it splutter.Then mix it with the tomato dosa batter.

to temper

Heat a dosa tawa,pour a laddle of batter and spread it evenly all over the tawa.Drizzle little oil and cook both sides well.

Serve the Tomato Dosai hot with your favorite chutney.
