Seedai is a deep fried snack made with rice flour and urad dhal flour. These are specially made for Krishna Jayanthi as Nivedhyam.
I have made Seedais a couple of times at home for they are so easy and a simple snack recipe.I could still remember the first time when I made Seedais ,they turned out like cheese balls so soft and puffed because I have added too much of butter.
As I could make them confidently now, wanted to make a post especially for Krishna Jayanthi as Nivedhyam for Lord Krishna.
PREPARATION TIME : 20 MINS
COOKING TIME : 20 MINS
INGREDIENTS
1 cup rice flour
2 tbsp urad dhal
2 tbsp grated coconut
2 tbsp butter
1/2 tbsp sesame seeds
1/4 tsp asafoetida powder
Oil for deep frying
Salt to taste
Water as required
METHOD
Heat a pan and roast the rice flour,Urad dhal and grated coconut separately just for 3 mins on medium flame.
After roasting the urad dhal ,cool them and grind it in a mixer to powdery consistency. Then sieve both rice flour and urad dhal flour.
Mix all the ingredients except oil and form a soft dough.
Make small balls out of the dough.
Heat oil in kadai and deep fry these balls on low flame until cooked well inside.
Crispy Seedais are ready to enjoy.
METHOD
Sieve the flours well to avoid bursting.
Roast the flour just for few mins.
Do not make big seedai to avoid uncooked flour inside the seedai.
Very different and looks wonderful! The pictures really show the steps nicely!

I’d love to eat these but I think I want to dip it in a sweet & spicy sauce first. ^__^
