Chicken kulambu is always very easy to prepare for they don’t take much time to get cooked and tastes good even with the adding of simple ingredients.When ever I’m in a hurry to make breakfast or lunch I prefer making something out of chicken like CHICKEN VIRUDHUNAGAR KULAMBU ,CHICKEN WHITE KURMA or CHICKEN KURMA
Today I m sharing an easy chicken kulambu using grated coconuts,onions and tomatoes.A simple and quick kulambu recipe u can rely on especially on Sundays when we get up so late and also we feel so bored to cook.This Chicken kulambu takes very less time but tastes so good.
PREPARATION TIME : 15 MINS
COOKING TIME : 15 MINS
SERVES : 5-6
INGREDIENTS
TO SAUTE AND GRIND
1 onion (chopped)
1 tomato (chopped)
5 cloves garlic
3 inch ginger piece
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 cup grated coconut
1 tbsp oil
TO SAUTE AND COOK
500 g chicken
1 onion
1 tomato
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
2 bay leaf
2 star anise
3 cloves
1 small cinnamon stick
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp chilli powder
2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
Water as required
METHOD
TO SAUTE AND GRIND
Heat oil in a pan,add garlic,ginger,fennel seeds and saute for 2 mins in medium flame.Then add onion and tomato and saute for 5 mins in medium flame.Finally add the grated coconut and saute 5 more mins in medium flame.
Remove form flame,cool down and grind to smooth paste with water.Keep it aside,you need to add this later to the sauteed chicken.
TO SAUTE AND COOK
Heat oil in your cooker add cloves,bayleaf,cinnamon,star anise and saute for 2 min in medium flame.Then add tomato,onion and saute for 2 mins in medium flame.
Wash the chicken pieces and add them too.Saute for 2 mins in medium flame.
Add turmeric powder,chilli powder and salt.Mix them well.
Now add the ground mixture with 1 & 1/2 cups water and let it boil.
Close it with a lid and pressure cook for 2 whistles.Then simmer the flame to low and cook for 5 mins.
Chicken kulamu is ready to serve now.
