Cornflour Halwa / Karachi halwa

cornflour halwa

Cornflour halwa is one of the most easiest halwa recipe with very little ghee.Such a colorful, glossy halwa with jelly texture. You will definitely enjoy the making process of this halwa as it changes so rapidly from watery consistency to glassy, glossy, jelly consistency.
Unlike other halwa it requires very less time for the cornflour to get cooked and also the cornflour gives the texture that halwa needs in no time. But still I would suggest to cook them until a thick jelly consistency is obtained. Then only you can make perfect shaped halwas with rich ,chewy texture.

Let the corn flour dissolve well and add it to the sugar syrup.Cook in low flame and stir continuously to prevent them from thickening and settling down. After 5 mins of cooking add the roasted cashews along with ghee, keep stirring in low flame.

After 30 mins it will become very thick and leaves the pan. Also you can see them changing like jellos at the sides of the pan. When it becomes thick switch off the flame.

If you want to serve them as burfis then transfer it to a ghee greased plate and let it set for 2 hours.Make small squares out of them. You can also serve them just like that without making burfis.
